American Gold Eagle Coins

The American Gold Eagle Coin is the official gold bullion coin of the USA. And was released by the USA Mint in 1986 in 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 oz denominations. By law the gold used in the American gold coins must come from within the boarders of the United States amd are guarantted to have a .9167 22 Carat purity. Not as pure as other Gold Coins such as the Canadian Maple Leaf Coins. But they are equally saught after amongst collectors and the general public.

An Irish-born American sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the famous Liberty face of the Gold American Eagle Coins, also known as "Liberties". And Miles Busiek updated the reverse in 1986 to the soaring eagle flying over the eagles nest we see today. Both designs are highly recognisable around the world and most are minted at the West Point mint and should be stamped with a "W" beneath the date..
